knowing it's my general compulsion
to crawl beneath my bed

light pressing against closed eyes

isnt it funny how
a life staked on principle
could end up inconsistent with one’s goals

isn’t it like something is injured, interred---
my masculine dignity? I wouldn't even know where to start

lest I'm sorely split apart
like the seat of all my pants
I'm rended oh
and living a life just so heedless
would the world confirm i needed
to plummet through calendar page
sedate
the yarn
unspooling into the dark
